Worth the Cost
Before beginning a book, shouldn’t writers first consider the time, discipline, and resources needed to finish? Otherwise, they might complete a few chapters but lose the commitment to finish. Others may see the abandoned manuscript and say, “This writer began with great enthusiasm but wouldn’t do the hard work and quit.”

The world may promise wealth and fame,
A brighter place and a greater name.
But earthly treasures fade from view,
While God’s rewards are forever true.
Our hearts will follow what we prize,
The dream we treasure in our eyes.
When knowing God becomes our aim,
Our lesser wants lose strength and claim.
The writer’s road may call for cost,
For quiet hours and comforts lost.
Yet every faithful word we sow
May bear more fruit than we know.
Simple truths and a kindly phrase,
Guide readers through shadowed days.
What seems too small to make a mark
May carry God’s light through the dark.
We may not know what prayer to pray
Or which new path should lead the way.
The Holy Spirit sees what lies ahead
And lights the path where we are led.
So don’t chase the world’s applause
Or trade your calling for its cause.
The praise of crowds will soon cease,
But God rewards with lasting peace.
Stay close to him when doubts arise;
Let worship elevate your weary eyes.
His presence is the greatest prize,
Richer than diamonds in bright skies.
With faith, keep writing. Obey his call.
Entrust to him your work and all.
For whatever we give into God’s hand
Will touch more lives than we planned.
Choose what will last when years are gone,
When earthly lights are no longer dawn.
The greatest treasure we can ever find
Is life with God—heart, soul, and mind.
