Setting Ideas on Fire
You are here to give light to the whole world. A city built on a hilltop can’t be hidden.

Ideas don’t spring from empty air.
They need rich fuel collected there.
From books and talks and lots of learning,
With piles of wisdom that could be burning.
Sometimes knowledge will coldly lie,
Until a question wanders by.
Curiosity then brings the heat,
A spark to make the fire complete.
We ask the why, the how, the when,
And search for deeper truth again.
More questions fan a growing flame,
Transforming facts that looked the same.
Fire needs oxygen for it to rise,
To leap above the smoky skies.
God’s Spirit gives the needed air,
Connecting truths from everywhere.
A story born from truth and grace
Will light a dark and weary place.
When insight joins what we have known,
A brighter understanding will be shown.
At Pentecost the fire came down,
A great outpouring upon the town.
The Spirit’s flame made quite a show,
Providing ways to learn and grow.
So gather fuel with heart and mind,
Seek God’s truth in all you can find.
Stay curious, pray, and seek his way,
Letting his wisdom guide each day.
For truth and love and Spirit power
Can turn sparks into a brilliant shower.
You can be a blazing light for all to see—
Like a hilltop bonfire, burning faithfully.
