Fruit Basket Boasting
Look at what you’re doing for others, and find satisfaction in knowing you have pleased the Lord. Then you won’t have to compare yourself to anybody else.

A banana need not bend and sigh,
Because an orange caught its eye.
Apples don’t have to boast aloud,
Because they hang above the crowd.
Each fruit has its shape, taste, and hue,
A gift God formed with purpose true.
Not one was made to rank above,
Or cast its shade on one God loves.
So why compare the gifts we bring,
As if one bird has a brighter wing?
The robin’s song, the eagle’s flight,
Both have their place in God’s sight.
To think we’re less is not the truth,
To think we’re more is just uncouth.
Both views miss what God has planned,
For all his creatures in this land.
The worth you have isn’t assigned
By someone else’s skill or mind.
You do not rise or fall today,
By what another does or says.
So write, and serve, and walk your road,
Without another’s borrowed load.
God shaped your life with loving art,
And planted purpose in your heart.
No need to brag, no need to crawl,
No need to rank yourself at all.
Just bear the fruit that you can give,
And let God teach you how to live.
