From Spark to Flame

Those who are alive in Christ are new creatures, unlike who they were before. The old life in the flesh is over, and a new life in the spirit has begun.
2 Corinthians 5:17 The Discussion Bible
From Spark to Flame

A spark of faith begins to glow,
And gently starts our hearts to grow.
Though small at first, its light can climb,
And shine more brightly over time.

We long to walk the narrow way,
Yet must renew that choice each day.
For yesterday’s desire cannot alone
Guide the steps that must be shown.

God grows in us as we choose to yield
And “self” surrenders some of its field.
Each time his wisdom takes the lead,
He plants within us a better seed.

The tests we face are not in vain,
But may be wrapped in loss or pain.
They show us where we’re strong or weak,
And teach us more of him to seek.

His grace is more than gifts bestowed.
It’s God himself upon the road.
His presence walks through every mile,
And will turn our tears into a smile.

So sweep the temple of your heart,
And cause all distractions to depart.
Make room for him in every room,
And watch his life begin to bloom.

When choices come, choose what’s right,
And follow wherever he gives you light.
One faithful step, then one step more,
Will lead you farther than ever before.

The heart that seeks the Lord above
Will find him drawing near in love.
And day by day you’ll clearly see,
You’re not the person you used to be.
