Trust Taking Root
Blessed are those who trust the Lord and place their hope in him. They will be like trees planted by the river, with roots reaching deep into the water. In the dry heat of summer, their leaves are green.

It’s easy to trust God when the pathway is clear,
When answers arrive and blessings seem near.
Faith proves its strength when the sunlight grows dim.
And nothing seems certain except trusting him.
A bridge may look sturdy when viewed from the shore,
But weight on its beams shows what it can endure.
Tests and trials reveal what our hearts should know,
And deepen the roots that help confidence grow.
Like Peter, we might feel certain and strong,
But fear reveals that our thinking was wrong.
Yet Jesus restores us when courage has fled,
And teaches us trust on the pathway ahead.
The truth may be painful when pride is exposed,
Revealing the weakness we thought we had closed.
But God doesn’t show us our failures to shame.
He heals and transforms when we call on his name.
Some trust in their riches, strength, or might,
But earthly defenses can vanish from sight.
Our horses and chariots may stumble and fall,
But God will remain as the Lord over all.
The things we can see are not all that is there.
God’s armies surround us with power and care.
A storm may rage. The nights may seem long,
But Christ within makes trembling hearts strong.
Hear the Lord’s voice through his Spirit and Word.
Grow quiet enough that his whispers are heard.
The more you know him, the clearer you’ll see
His steadfast love can be trusted completely.
Trust grows through the choices we faithfully make,
Each prayer that we offer, each step that we take.
And when every earthly assurance has ceased,
Our roots will hold firmly in God’s perfect peace.
