Bad Hair Day
God’s love has no conditions. His mercy and kindness never ends. Great is his faithfulness, made new every morning.

My hair stood sideways, straight up, and then down.
I had the most uncontrollable mop in the town.
I stared in the mirror and sighed, “Oh dear me …
With hair like this, what will today likely be?”
I tripped on my sock as I walked across the floor,
Then bumped into tables as I walked to the door.
The cat spilled my coffee. My toast burned to black.
And my hair shouted, “Buddy, get back on track.”
I pulled out a comb, but it stuck with a snap.
I would look better if I’d just wear a cap.
I said, “If my hair won’t behave or obey,
No wonder that my days always feel this way.”
I tried on a cap, but it wasn’t right for me.
I said, “Really? Is this the way it must be?”
It seemed that the chaos atop of my head
Had leaked into everything else that I did.
Yet right when I grumbled, “I’m done. I give in.”
A soft little chuckle rose from the Spirit within.
Life’s messes may tangle, twist, topple, or pull …
But a little wisdom popped in and brightened my skull.
For some folks, you know, with a smooth, shiny crown,
Have no hair to wrestle when their days tumble down.
So when life is a snarl and you just want to yell—
Be thankful you’ve got some hair left to pull, as well.
