Today or Tomorrow

Don’t procrastinate. Write your story now, before you go to sleep.
Proverbs 6:4 Scripture for Writers
Today or Tomorrow

Jack stared at his screen with a sigh and a groan,
“Tell me… Where has all the wasted time flown?
If only I’d started earlier. If only I’d tried.”
Regret sat there beside him, all heavy inside.

But tick went the clock and tock went the day,
“Just one little hour,” he heard a voice say.
“One page could be written. One step you could take.
One choice at this moment for a story you can make.”

So Jack tapped a key and then typed out a line,
Then another, then more… Oh, the rhythm felt fine.
The pages slowly filled as the daylight grew dim,
And hope kept rising, with characters alive within.

By nightfall, the first draft was up on the screen,
A start to a future that he had not even seen.
For one hour that day, though seemingly small,
Had created a storytelling bonanza for all.

So don’t wait for “later” or “someday” or “when,”
For “later” has tricked many men and women.
Do it right now. Yes, begin where you are,
Before sleep comes calling, before it’s too far.
