Spoken in Season
Joy comes with having the right words at the right time.

When fear would seal your lips up tight,
Ask God to help you speak what’s right.
You need not make each phrase profound.
His grace can shape each simple sound.
A gentle word may calm a fear,
Or let someone know you’re near.
One honest sentence, warm and kind,
May lift the weight from someone’s mind.
But pause before your words take flight,
And ask if they bring love and light.
For careless speech can wound a friend,
While wisdom knows how to amend.
Ask questions others seldom hear,
Then listen with an open ear.
A thoughtful question forms a key
That sets another’s story free.
Do not let silence shelter the pain,
While hidden hurts and doubts remain.
Speak truth with grace and courage too,
So broken hearts may be made new.
Talk first with God about your day.
Be honest in all you choose to say.
No polished speech must be prepared.
God gives a thought before it’s shared.
Do not speak to gain applause
Or draw attention to your cause.
Speak only with the hope to bless,
To heal a wound or ease distress.
When fear insists you have no choice,
Remember God can use your voice.
A word in season, a timely story heard,
Will change lives through your kind words.
