Homonym Hullabaloo Word Family

A homonym waddled while wearing one shoe,
And shouted, “I’m one word that might mean two.”
He tripped on a tiny turtle named Mister Whatfor,
Who said, “What means one thing might mean more.”

A homophone hopped with a dew-droopy grin,
And carried a sign saying, “Will you please come in?”
“There’s bye and there’s buy and there’s by on the wall.
They sound just alike, with different spellings and all.”

A homograph giggled while rowing by the river bank,
Then opened an account with a clerk named Frank.
“One bank holds my money.” He happily sighed.
“The other bank has fishes splash by my side.”

A match met a match in a marvelous match,
One lit up a candle, while another played catch.
One shouted, “Score goals!” One crackled with flame,
And both of them proudly declared the same name.

Now Homonym Harry grew dizzy with dread,
As grammar bugs buzzed around in his head.
“Are homophones homonyms?” somebody cried.
“Oh yes, of course,” Professor Wisewords replied.

“And homographs too?” asked a goat in a vest,
Who balanced six books high on his chest.
“Yes indeed,” the Professor added with glee.
“They’re all homonyms in our family word tree.”

“But wait,” a walrus yelled while sipping root beer,
“A homonym’s broader and bigger. That’s clear.
A homophone’s sound-based. A homograph’s sight.
But a homonym gathers them together, just right.”

The students all clapped with a thunderous cheer,
But a timid wildebeest looked puzzled with fear.
He whispered, “These word-things are scary to me.”
Then he spelled “new” as “gnu” on his family tree.
