Wrestling with Words

Johnny worked his words in his own way,
Counting how many were written each day.
With a wink, God said, “What are you thinking?
What do numbers have to do with great writing?”

Some writers write loudly with Bam! and Ka-pow!
They often chase cheers, saying, “Look at me now.”
But Johnny wanted a message that touched many hearts,
Bringing laughter and tears during the emotional parts.

Ker-plish! One paragraph wasn’t going well,
His plot wasn’t working—ringing a wrong bell.
Failure wasn’t fatal. With a grin, Johnny said,
“This is perfect for new ideas to spread.”

He had wanted a medal, a shiny trophy, a top hat,
But God gave him patience. Now imagine that.
“Be thankful,” Johnny said, not puffy with pride.
“God’s gifts come with his care tucked right inside.”

Achievement’s not racing or beating the rest.
It’s using our gifts and doing our very best.
Be thankful for God’s miracle still in the making
For his ways will lead to something earth-shaking.

Write from the heart with courage and cheer,
For word count isn’t what you want to hear.
When God says, “Faithful writer, you’ve done well,”
His voice outweighs any value the world could sell.
