We might think we’re big or think we are small.
We compare, but there’s no need for that at all.
For every individual, God has a different view.
He knows who we are and what we’ll grow into.
Sometimes we can feel bright, like stars in the skies,
But on other days, we slump with tears in our eyes.
Our value isn’t found in who claps or who cheers.
Just doing our Lord’s will should quiet all our fears.
We don’t need the spotlight to glow or to gleam,
For honor will come when God writes our theme.
We should take the low seat. Let another stand tall.
There’s pleasure in uplifting others through it all.
To give without asking for something in trade—
Why, that is how humility is gracefully played.
Our lives can be channels for blessings to flow through,
And more keeps on coming, the more that we do.
In serving, we shine God’s light from above,
Like Jesus washing feet to show his great love.
He showed us how greatness is found on our knees—
In kindness, in patience, in giving moments like these.
And when our own plans start to push and to shove,
Humility takes a back seat and bows to God above.
We say, “Not my plan, Lord, but yours shall be done,”
Just like Jesus prayed when the hardest hour had come.
So tally no praises, no score and no chart.
Just walk with the Lord with a soft, yielded heart.
For humble is strong, and humble is free,
And humble is how we were all made to be.
