It’s not very tricky. It’s not hard to do.
God’s made it quite simple for me and you.
No riddles or puzzles, no mazes to run,
Just three little things—and then you’re done.
Do justly, he says, with your hands and your feet.
Be fair in your dealings with all whom you meet.
Don’t trick or mistreat. Don’t lie or deceive.
Just stand for the truth and the right you believe.
Love mercy, he says with a smile and a grin.
Be quick to forgive. Let compassion begin.
Don’t hold a grudge or keep score, not at all.
Help lift up the broken, the weary, the small.
Walk humbly with God. Don’t rush or race.
Let him set your path. Let him set your pace.
Don’t strut or boast or try to be best.
Just follow his lead and trust him for rest.
So what does God want? Just these three, that’s the key:
“Do justly. Love mercy. Walk humbly with me.”
No need for a ladder or mystical code—
Just follow the signs on his well-lighted road.
