The True Compass

Our lives are not ours to control. We are incapable of planning our own way and directing our steps. — Jeremiah 10:23 The Discussion Bible

Prayer is more than saying, “Please.”
It tunes our hearts and bends our knees.
It’s where our “stubborn will” lets go,
And love learns what it needs to know.

Christ prayed all night before the cross.
He chose God’s will despite the loss.
Through every trial, tear, and test,
Prayer keeps frustrated hearts at rest.

We plan our course. We chart the sea.
Then God says simply, “Follow me.”
His plans unfold in amazing change.
What feels like loss he will rearrange.

A child who walks beside his dad
Needs not the map to still be glad.
The safety’s not in what’s ahead—
It’s knowing how we are being led.

The Lord delights in all our ways,
He guides through nights and brightest days.
Though we may stumble, still we stand—
For he holds firmly to our hand.
