The Help We Need to Write Our Best

The Lord says, “This is my agreement with them: My Spirit is on you, and my words won’t leave your lips—or your children’s or your grandchildren’s—from now on and forever.” — Isaiah 59:21 The Discussion Bible

When you’re young, you need help to stand and speak.
You wobble, you fall, and your balance feels weak.
With confidence, you grow and think, “Look at me go,”
Until one day you stumble over what you don’t know.

We all like to think, “I can do this alone.
I’ll write every chapter and make it my own.”
But pride is a trap that can sneak up inside—
And cause you to ignore your crucial Guide.

God’s help doesn’t always come flashy or loud.
It may come through people, not a bright cloud.
He’ll nudge you through friends or a mentor who cares,
Or shine through a sentence that catches you unawares.

Sometimes his support comes disguised as a no,
When doors that you wanted refuse to let go.
But later you’ll see that your timing was wrong.
He steered you instead to the place you belong.

He won’t write your story or type every line,
But he’ll shape your perspective help you refine.
He’ll teach you to listen, to wait, and to pray,
To trust when the plot doesn’t go your way.

Wise writers know, when their ink’s running dry,
To look up from paper and gaze toward the sky.
For God knows the words you were born to impart,
The ones he’s been etching right into your heart.

Some lessons will come through mistakes you make,
With edits that humble and deadlines that ache.
But failure’s not fatal. Each draft can shine,
Till your voice and his purpose together align.

Here’s another truth, although it may sound absurd:
You’ll grow when you help others polish their words.
When you lift other writers and cheer as they climb,
Your own craft will flourish, in rhythm and rhyme.

So pray as you ponder, “Lord, show me my part.
Be strength for my mind and the pen of my heart.”
For support is the secret that helps writers start—
And God is the Finisher of every good part.
