We should write today and not ask when,
Not waiting for inspiration to show up again.
For moods like to wander and naps often call,
But we must keep writing, through it all.
First drafts aren’t pretty. They trip and spill.
They clatter and chatter and wobble at will.
Mess is the doorway into what becomes clear.
There’s no better path than what’s right here.
So don’t edit early or scold every line.
Let words run loose—and later refine.
Create like a child, with no judge in the room.
With freewriting first, improvements will bloom.
A habit beats hope, and a chair beats a spark.
So write in the daylight and write in the dark.
Discipline will whisper, “First sit … now begin.”
Today we should write, for that’s the best “when.”
