I sit with my thoughts. They go this way and that.
They bounce in my head like a ball with a bat.
But God always listens. He knows what I say.
He hears all my whispers by night and by day.
The aches in my feet and the pains in my side,
They come uninvited, but must they abide?
I ask if they’re lessons or just passing through.
Are they here for a reason, or just something new?
I pray for the answers. When will the pain go away?
But God says lovingly, “My grace is enough for today.”
Like Jesus in the Garden, in passionate prayer,
I must learn to say yes, trusting my life to his care.
Some days I want less. Other days I want more.
But God’s way is best because he knows the score.
Wondering what will happen, I trust what he’s planned,
For him to guide my words and the works of my hands.
I must trust him in the fog, when the pathway’s unclear,
For his presence is still with me when the signs disappear.
I’ll rest in his wisdom. I’ll follow his way.
For his grace is sufficient for each single day.
