Oh, blessed are those with a hunger so grand,
Who thirst to please God in all they’ve planned.
Their hearts will be filled through and through—
For God brings delight to the faithful and true.
With the hunger and thirst, the rumble, the roar.
For something that satisfies deep in the core.
Not burgers or cookies or soft drink fizz—
But the wonderful joy of just being his.
The stomach may grumble, the lips may be dry,
But the craving for God goes much deeper inside.
It’s a hunger, a thirst that won’t go away.
It keeps growing and growing with each passing day.
We search high and low, we search near and far,
We long for his truth, wherever we are.
The world offers snacks that quickly grow thin,
But God’s hearty feast fills us deep down within.
The hungry are blessed. The thirsty are too.
For God has a banquet prepared just for you.
He’ll fill you with goodness, with love ever true—
Enough to refresh and to carry you through.
No snack will suffice, no worldly delight,
Can fill our souls or make our hearts right.
But those who seek God with hunger and zest,
Will feast on the fact that they are so blessed.
So come with your hunger, come thirsty, come near.
God’s table is waiting. There’s nothing to fear.
With hearts full of longing and eyes open wide,
You’ll feast on his goodness, forever supplied.
