One True Direction

Why am I discouraged? Why am I so upset? My hope for help is in you, so I praise you, my deliverer and my God. — Psalm 42:11 The Discussion Bible

When life feels like circles that spin you around,
And joy takes a nap while confusion is found,
Don’t chase every feeling that comes and goes—
But turn to the Lord, to where your heart grows.

Some days you feel brave. Some days you feel small.
Some days you might feel nothing—no feeling at all.
But growth isn’t measured by sunshine or tears.
It’s walking with God through the doubts and fears.

When storms start to rumble and friendships feel fake,
When trust gets all wobbly and hearts start to ache,
Don’t think that God’s left you. He hasn’t. Oh, no.
He’s taking you deeper, teaching trust as you go.

The psalmist once wrote: “My soul’s feeling down.
I’ll praise you, Lord, although I’m wearing a frown.”
He picked hope in him above the sorrow he felt,
And joy soon returned as his pride slowly knelt.

From Eden till now, there’s a pull on our hearts—
A compass toward goodness that sets us apart.
Evil may whisper as it tries to pull us astray,
But God gives us strength to turn back his way.

So turn and keep turning—again and again.
Each day’s a fresh start—not an if but a when.
For every step draws us to him up above,
Realigns us to mercy, to worship and love.

Our feelings may flutter like leaves in the breeze,
But truth stays unshaken through all of these seas.
No matter the weather, the tears, or elation—
Keep walking toward God, your One True Direction.
