No Need to Hide

When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. I praise God for his Word, which leads me to trust him and not be afraid. What can people do to me? — Psalm 56:3–4 The Discussion Bible

When shadows grow long, and the night’s full of noise,
When fear tries to shake all my peace and my poise,
When my heart starts to race, and my knees feel like goo,
I whisper, “Dear Lord, I put my trust in you.”

I won’t run and hide or climb up a tree,
For what can mere people do unto me?
They may mumble and grumble, laugh or accuse,
But with God on my side, I never can lose.

I praise him each morning. I praise him at night.
His Word is my insight, my courage, my light.
It tells me he loves me. It tells me he’s near,
And reading it takes all the sting out of fear.

So when I feel worried or wobbly or blue,
I’ll shout it out loud: “God, I’m trusting in you.”
No fear and no fuss, no gloom and no groan
Can shake me when I know I’m not on my own.
