No Easy Way to Write

Therefore, fellow writers, don’t even think about giving up. Stay strong and passionate about the message God placed inside you, knowing that your hard work has eternal value. — 1 Corinthians 15:58 Scripture for Writers

We all want what’s easy, that smooth, gentle ride,
Where stories flow freely and words coincide.
“But wait! Hold on. Writing shouldn’t be hard,” you say.
Yet great writing is sweat and tears—work all the way.

We hunt for shortcuts, a simple magical trick—
A formula that’s fast or a method that’s quick.
But for as long as we chase what is simple or light,
We’ll hinder the heavy lifting that requires our fight.

Storytelling is tough. It’s a climb—yes, a grind.
But it stretches the heart and sharpens the mind.
Writers must labor through fog, fear, and doubt—
Until truth finds a voice, and the story comes out.

Grammar rules are useful. They’ll help at the start,
But breaking them wisely—that’s mastering the art.
Great writing takes intense practice, focus, and pains,
To know when rules can be loosed from their chains.

Plan to write countless articles and books with great prose,
Through pressing deadlines and rejections, for that’s how it goes.
You’ll pour out your soul and then wonder who’ll care,
Since many buy books but don’t read all that’s in there.

But maybe one reader will pause, stop, and see
The spark of God’s grace meant to set their soul free.
If one life is changed—just one heart made new—
That eternal reward justifies all the effort for you.

Another life will change in this battle you fight.
That will be your life, as you walk in God’s light.
So get to doing all the hard work and let excuses fall.
The hard way’s the best way, and it’s worth it all.

Keep writing through weariness, pain, and delay.
Quit searching for the non-existent, quick easy way.
With all your time and effort, your strength will increase,
And the struggle itself becomes part of your peace.
