Draw near, my child. Don’t stand afar.
God’s not hiding where the shadows are.
Take one small step. No … take two,
And he’ll take ten big steps toward you.
Your hands? Oh, my! They do need a scrub.
They’ve become so dirty from the trouble tub.
Go wash them clean—no speck, no spot—
For goodness grows where sin is not.
Your heart? Sometimes it begins to stray
And then it drifts the wrong old way.
One minute, “yes,” the next minute “no,”
It needs one path, one light to glow.
Don’t live two lives—one dark, one bright.
Don’t chase the wrong and claim the right.
Don’t wink at sin, then shout a psalm,
God wants a heart that’s still and calm.
Fix your sight on the godly view.
Let all you are be pure and true.
No mask, no game, no halfway strife—
But focus on the Lord of Life.
Come close, come close. Don’t wait, don’t stall.
He’s ready now. Please heed his call.
He’ll meet you with his love so wide—
So draw in near … and step inside.
