Moving Forward

People want to map their entire journey, but God shows them only the next step. — Proverbs 16:9 The Discussion Bible

Wanting a win, folks might not try till they know
The path that they take will help them to grow.
But faith doesn’t work with a map set in stone.
It takes the next step even when feeling alone.

We like to see endings before we begin.
We want every twist and turn to fit in.
God says, “Just trust me and follow my light—
One step at a time will still get you there right.”

Some voices sound shiny, all sparkly and sweet,
But watch where you walk and be quick on your feet.
For Satan, disguised in a bright angel’s glow,
Will whisper a yes when God’s answer is no.

We might fear we’re too weak, clumsy, or small,
But God provides the strength for us to do it all.
He only says, “Give me your heart and your best,
And I’ll handle the burdens and carry the rest.”

We long for a sign that’s impossible to doubt,
A trumpet, a lightning bolt, something drawn out.
But faith doesn’t wait for a sky-writing cue—
It trusts when God says, “This step is for you.”

Give effort with joy, with whole heart and soul.
Let pleasing the Lord be your one greatest goal.
For little acts grow when they’re placed in his hand.
He’ll turn a spark into a flame, big, bright, and grand.

So step out when he calls and walk as he leads,
For faith isn’t measured by grand, mighty deeds.
It’s choosing to trust when you don’t fully know.
One step, then another—just follow and go.
