Mourning Glory

Blessed are the mourners, those who are grieving, for God will bring comfort, joy, and laughter to their aching hearts. — Matthew 5:4 The Discussion Bible

When sorrow comes knocking and joy takes its leave,
When your heart feels too heavy to hope or believe,
When teardrops keep falling like rain from the sky,
And you don’t even have enough strength left to cry …

Don’t think you’re forgotten. Don’t give up or frown.
God sees all your weeping and won’t let you drown.
He gathers your tears in the palm of his hand,
And whispers, “I’m with you. I do understand.”

For blessed are mourners, both young ones and old—
The broken, the hurting, the tired, and the cold.
God promises comfort, a joy forever true,
With laughter that bubbles fresh and brand new.

He’ll turn all your sadness to dancing again,
Mending every sorrow with love that won’t end.
So if you are grieving, don’t run and don’t hide.
Just sit with the Savior who stays by your side.
