Masked Man

Hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs that look great on the outside but are full of dead men’s bones and rottenness. In the same way, you appear to be righteous but are actually full of hypocrisy and wickedness. — Matthew 23:27–28 The Discussion Bible

Some wear a mask when they walk in the door.
They act like a saint but are something much more.
Outside, they will blend with the world in disguise,
But Jesus sees truth, not the masks or the lies.

A window of glass can look plain, cold, and gray,
But sunlight reveals all its colors at play.
The light is not made by the window, you see.
It shines when it’s honest and simply let be.

You can’t serve two masters, for one you’ll despise.
The heart tells the tale and it won’t tell you lies.
So live out your faith both at work and at home,
For light isn’t filtered. It’s God’s on its own.

The world needs no actors, no masks and no show,
Just people whose lives let God’s radiance glow.
So stand and be real, let his brightness be seen,
Authentic and shining, both humble and clean.
