When our desires say, “Do this,” and the Law says, “Don’t.”
We’re tugged and we’re torn, but what says we won’t?
Deep down in our hearts, there’s a whisper so small,
Which should guide us with love and go beyond Law.
The Spirit steps in with a soft, steady tone,
Not etched into marble or chiseled in stone.
He leads you through places where rules fall apart,
And scribbles God’s grace on the walls of your heart.
The Pharisees counted their steps every day,
Afraid they might wander or walk the wrong way.
But freedom is found when the Spirit’s your guide,
For grace, not the gavel, walks close by your side.
The Law draws the lines, but God’s brings grace,
He wants you to follow him—to walk at his pace,
With no burdens too heavy, no striving to please,
For life in the Spirit brings freedom and ease.
So listen, dear traveler, be calm and always aware:
The Law points the path, but the Spirit leads there.
When guided by him, you’re both safe and set free—
For love will fulfill the Law of the Lord for all eternity.
