Hope that Flies

Why am I discouraged? Why am I so upset? My hope for help rests entirely with you, so I praise you, my deliverer and my God. — Psalm 43:5 The Discussion Bible

When folks go searching far and wide
For hope that somehow likes to hide,
They are looking in all the wrong places—
When hope can always be found in Jesus.

People chase after money and fame,
As if they can win the “lotto” game.
But all that glitter, gold, and stuff
Can’t fill a heart when life gets rough.

They hope for health and to live many years,
But life is so short and can be full of fears.
Maybe a good job will help them feel strong,
But businesses keep failing, all year long.

Yet when God steps in with his gentle light
We can hear his whisper, “Everything’s all right.
Your future is safe when your life is mine.
Come rest in faith and hope by my design.”

For faith knows that God is supreme
Hope anticipates fulfillment of a dream.
Faith sees the promise as already done.
Hope is looking for the battle to be won.

Whenever you feel you cannot cope,
Just call on God who can give you hope.
For help from him, in time of need,
Turns fear to faith with lightning speed.

So fix your eyes on Heaven’s rope,
Hold tight to Jesus. He’s your hope.
For every joy and every sigh,
He is the reason hope can fly.
