God in the Quiet Zone

Listen carefully—as one standing at the doorway, eager to enter—and you will be blessed, for those who find wisdom find life and are favored by the Lord. — Proverbs 8:34–35 The Discussion Bible

The world is loud with endless shouts and songs,
With screens and schemes with rights and wrongs.
So many voices are filling the air—
But do we hear that God is there?

We click and scroll and binge and play,
And chase the noises that fade away.
We listen close to the sounds we like,
But miss the whisper through God’s mic.

Elijah found, to his surprise,
No voice in the wind or fire or skies.
But in the quiet, soft and small,
He heard the Lord ruling over all.

The Pharisees could quote each verse,
Yet missed the truth and made it worse.
They heard the noise but not the Word.
They saw the signs but never heard.

We beg for blessings, his helping hand,
But seldom do we listen and understand.
It isn’t God’s gifts that make us whole.
It’s knowing him with heart and soul.

Some go to church to sing and to sit,
To take what pleases, but not commit.
They nod with the words but never do.
Their hearts are deaf, their words untrue.

To hear the Lord, we must be still,
And trade our wants for his own will.
The narrow road, though steep and long,
Will teach our hearts a deeper song.

He doesn’t shout through pain or fear.
He whispers low: “My child, I’m here.”
And those who seek with all their might
Will find his voice in the morning light.

So hush your mind and bend your knee,
And tune your heart to his mystery.
For those who listen, loud and clear,
Will find that Love is what they hear.
