Some days, your thoughts hide away,
They just nap inside your brain all day.
You poke and prod, but they won’t show.
You sigh and say, “My words won’t flow.”
But wait! Don’t give up. Don’t even frown.
The best of stories can start upside-down.
For God who brings the stars out at night,
Can quicken your clicks if you’ll just write.
Just a few crumbs … maybe scraps of rhyme,
Can begin a crooked verse or a clumsy line.
Then, poof! Your spirit breathes again,
A distant voice speaks from deep within.
When doubts creep in and tempers flare,
As blank screens give their mocking stare,
Just whisper, “Lord, please show me the way.”
Then click another line. That’s faith for today.
For faith’s not loud or full of flair.
It’s gentle clicks from here to there.
It’s trusting God when you can’t see
The story he’s working so creatively.
So when you’re weary, don’t ever give in.
Put your fingers to the keys and click again.
Each word, each prayer, each leap of grace
Teaches your fingers their appropriate pace.
Someday, you’ll look up and proudly grin.
You’ll type, “The end,” and joy will break in.
For all those days you have chosen to stay,
God has kept the keys clicking all the way.
