Before It’s Too Late

Ask me, and I will reveal hidden and important things that you never knew. — Jeremiah 33:3 The Discussion Bible

We wait till we’re sinking before we think to cry out.
“Lord, toss me a life vest,” we say with some doubt.
But wisdom would whisper before we’re drowning,
“Prepare and stay close. Don’t drift from his calling.”

A drowning man wishes he’d learned how to swim,
Before the deep waters have come up to his chin.
God gives us the foresight, if only we’d pray,
To steer clear of danger before the dismay.

We think cellphones have answers to all that we seek.
They beep and buzz and answer when we speak.
Although they seem helpful and clever and fast,
They can’t calm storms or erase what has passed.

For human and godly connections are best.
We should lean on the Lord and join his quest.
When Wi-Fi is weak and the signal is gone,
You’ll find that God’s line still keeps coming on.

When we live self-sufficient, we stumble and fall,
But with God as our Helper, we rise through it all.
He’s the source of all wisdom, the Friend we can trust,
And with him on our side—our fears turn to dust.
