Are you Listening?

The Lord says, “Draw near to me, hear what I speak to your heart, and then you’ll be truly alive. Then you will have my eternal promise of love and kindness that I made with David.” — Isaiah 55:3 The Discussion Bible

The world is loud with buzz and hum,
A thousand voices are beating the drum.
They shout and sing, “Come my way and see.”
But none of them will set your spirit free.

The ads will sparkle, flash, and gleam.
They offer satisfaction, or so they seem.
But truths won’t shout from flashing screens.
They whisper softly, even in your dreams.

We listen much, yet seldom hear,
The still small voice that’s always near.
It calls us close, beyond the dins,
To quiet hearts where peace begins.

Some hear booming sounds from above.
But don’t recognize God’s words of love.
Like thunder rolling through the skies,
They miss the meaning and the prize.

The Pharisees could quote and boast,
But missed the One they needed most.
They held the book, but not with their heart.
Knowing the Law, they missed the best part.

We love the blessings but not the pain.
We want the crown without the strain.
Jesus said, “Give your all to be my disciple,”
But many ignore those words from the Bible.

For listening takes a humble soul,
A yielded heart for a higher goal.
It isn’t found in noise or pride,
But when our will is set aside.

So hush the screens, the endless scroll,
And listen deep within your soul.
For when the noise begins to cease,
You’ll find his voice that speaks in peace.
