The Mind of Christ

Who knows enough to teach God something? Who can know what God is thinking? But we know, because we have the Holy Spirit to reveal the mind of Christ. In caring for others, you should have the same attitude that Jesus had. — 1 Corinthians 2:16; Philippians 2:5 The Discussion Bible

We often forget what mercy had planned:
That God would live as one of us in this land.
When Jesus took flesh, our new life could begin,
For though flesh could sin, his spirit wouldn’t sin.

A connection on both ends makes a bridge complete,
Reaching from a sinless God above to our sinful feet.
The separation was too great to be bridged easily,
So Jesus is our miracle for life throughout eternity.

In Gethsemane’s garden, beneath moonlit skies,
Jesus spoke of the struggle with tears in his eyes.
“When the spirit says yes, but the body says no,
Our flesh should yield to the Spirit saying go.”

Jesus’ mind was most perfect, his heart pure and true,
Yet clothed in a body that still chose what to do.
Never once failing, never ever turning aside,
He walked every step with his Father as guide.

“How did he do it?” You might wonder today.
He lived without sin by avoiding his flesh-serving way.
He listened. He yielded. He followed God’s voice,
Each act an obedient, love-driven choice.

The apostle Paul says we can do that too
When we’re led by the Spirit in all we do.
When God is our compass, our desires become clear.
And with the mind of Christ, we don’t have to fear.
