Together in Love

A true friend eagerly answers the first call for help, one who shows more concern than a close member of the family. — Proverbs 18:24 The Discussion Bible

We were never made to live all alone,
Like islands of silence or hearts of stone.
God wired our souls for a warm, living link—
To love and be loved, more than we might think.

If you want a friend, you must show you’re there,
With a smile, a hello, or a kind bit of care.
You can’t sit in a corner, all quiet and still,
Then wonder why friendship ignores your will.

A friendship begins when you make it known
That you’re open to others, not sealed up like stone.
Some doors swing wide. Some won’t open at all.
That’s part of the risk when you make the call.

God did the same thing when he stepped into view.
“I’m waiting,” he said. “The choice is with you.”
He’s not just a helper or wish-granting friend,
He wants hearts to agree with his means and end.

Two cannot walk if they’re pulling apart,
Our wanting his way while God wants our heart.
Agreement is needed for steps side-by-side,
Or separation will grow, whatever you try.

All friendships are built on a deep kind of love—
Some earthly, some broken, some sent from above.
But only God’s love, so faithful and true,
Can last forever and still feel brand new.

Like coals in a fire that glow when they’re near,
We burn bright together, not separate in fear.
Pulled out and alone, the flame fades away,
But joined with God’s people, we light up the day.

Those who love the light will draw near,
While others choose to back away in fear.
We don’t chase the shadows or beg them to stay.
We walk in the light and invite people God’s way.

So make yourself ready, available, and free.
Let God guide your steps and your “come and see.”
Eternal connections grow strong from above
When friendships are planted in God’s perfect love.
