Miracles Writers Miss

[Jesus said,] “I guarantee, those who believe in me will do the work I have been doing. They will do even greater work because I go to the Father.” — John 14:12 The Discussion Bible

Many works of God are so small—
So faint we fail to see them at all.
They bloom inside the heart and mind—
As a quiet change, an idea now refined.

We look for publicity with great flair,
A boom. A bang. Sparks in the air.
But God works most in calm, still ways,
Inspiring thoughts in great writer days.

A line pops in. A plot takes shape.
A stuck scene starts to shift and scrape.
We blink and say, “Well, that was odd …”
But oh, it just might be the touch of God.

A sparrow falls. God sees its plight—
How much more then, our stress and fight?
He knows every word we try to craft,
Each tear of doubt, each sigh and laugh.

We seek signs above but should look below.
Don’t miss the small ways his mercies glow.
God is our miracle when our hope feels thin,
Giving strength to try … and we try again.

Elisha prayed for his servant. “Let him see too.”
Gehazi then saw God’s army, bright and true.
When our minds feel stuck or tight,
Let’s pray for God to reveal his light.

A hurt, a pause, a long delay—
These may be gifts in God’s own way.
For pain can teach, and storms can shape,
And lead us to a grand escape.

But best of all—the grace we hold,
A saved soul pulled from doubt so cold,
A truth that lifts people’s hearts to sing—
Those are all miracles that God is working.”

Don’t just look for signs that shine.
Go write with heart and let God align.
For you can be—through word and deed—
The miracle someone else may need.
