God’s Kind Hand

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Never be discouraged, because I am God, who will help you. With my righteous right hand, I will strengthen you, hold you up, and keep you from falling. — Isaiah 41:10 The Discussion Bible

I wake and sigh. I’m tired. Oh, my.
I drag my feet and ask God, “Why?”
But still I rise and face the day,
For he will lead me on my way.

I spill my thoughts in long, soft streams.
I chase small signs and hint-like beams.
A bird, a book, a chance, and a glance—
All guide my heart with more than chance.

I give, I take, I walk, and I wait.
I rule out luck, hope not to be late.
I ask, “Dear Lord, what should I do?”
He says, “Be still. I’ll walk with you.”

My mind wants clues I do not get.
I fret, then laugh, then fret and fret.
But in God’s time, his word rings true:
“I will give you all you need to do.”

So when I droop and feel worn through,
And sigh, “I’m tired … so tired … aren’t you?”
He lifts my hand and helps me stand,
Then leads me on with his kind hand.
