Perfectly Imperfect

God shows me the perfect way and gives me strength to walk it. — Psalm 18:32 The Discussion Bible

In a world of trying to always do our best,
We fret and fuss but might fail every test.
God shakes his head with a smile that is kind—
“Perfection,” he says, “is a state of mind.”

Some say a race is perfect when a person runs fast,
But then, someone else will sprint right on past.
So “perfect,” it seems, is a word on a string
That wiggles and shifts like kites flown in the spring.

A rosebud is perfect, though not fully grown,
A seed in the dirt is still perfectly sown.
God smiles at each stage, for he planned every part—
For perfection is progress that grows from the heart.

A clunker that sputters but gets you to town
Might beat the Mercedez with payments that drown.
For perfect is “just right” in God’s flawless view—
Not fancy or flashy, but faithful and true.

The manna that fell was not too much or less.
It came as God gave it—his perfect success.
People want “more,” so they strive and they strain,
Until they’re shackled with debt, and joy becomes pain.

Now Satan once walked in perfection so bright,
But pride clouded wisdom and darkened his sight.
We can learn from that moment so ancient and grim.
Our perfection must avoid any walking with him.

For we who love Jesus by faith, not by sight,
Are growing each day in his love and his light.
From glory to glory our hearts rise above—
Perfected by mercy and shaped by his love.

So don’t chase the flawless or fear every flaw,
For God’s perfect plan leaves us standing in awe.
We’re treasures he’s shaping, day after day,
Made even more perfect in his special way.
