A writer sat wondering, “Oh what do I do?
My pages look empty, my confidence too.”
God hadn’t said, “Your book will be grand,”
For faith isn’t built on what we demand.
True confidence grows where God’s words take root—
Not dreams we’ve invented in hopes they’ll bear fruit.
Faith isn’t from wishing or guessing inside.
It’s trusting God’s faithfulness to be our guide.
Writers can hear what they want him to say,
And have convictions that will go the wrong way.
Convenient hearing will often lead us astray,
But truth keeps us taking the right step each day.
Some trust in applause or how others will respond,
But crowds are like fading clouds wandering beyond.
Only God knows our future, the steps, and the climbs,
So we must trust him, not praise or publishing times.
When our confidence wobbles or begins to feel thin,
It’s truth that we’re missing, making it hard to begin.
For Jesus said truth sets our writing hearts free.
It clears up our doubts like a fresh cup of tea.
We lean on our savings, our schedules, our plans,
On friends, or approvals, or powerful clans.
But none of those anchors can weather the storm.
Only God keeps our confidence steady and warm.
So pray without ceasing. Stay close the whole day.
A constant God-connection keeps confusion away.
Our writing grows clearer, our choices more sound,
When we’re walking with him when our feet hit the ground.
Like Abraham waiting for what he was told,
Or John while in prison had his hope fold,
Writers can lose courage when darkness appears,
But God brings it back when we silence our fears.
In Gethsemane’s garden, Christ chose what was right.
Then God sent him strength for the painful fight.
You’re strengthened that way when surrender is true—
When “Your will be done” is the heartbeat in you.
So write from a heart that is shaped by the Lord,
Not trying for trophies or a publishing award.
For born-of-the-Spirit creates from within—
A voice where lifechanging stories will begin.
So keep on writing. Your calling is sure.
God-guided confidence can always endure.
Your writing will flourish. Your courage will grow,
For truth is the compass that tells you where to go.
