Timeliness

You don’t know what tomorrow will bring. Will you even be alive? Your life is as certain as the clouds, present now but maybe not tomorrow. Therefore, what you ought to say is this: “Whatever the Lord wants—that’s what I live to do each day.” — James 4:14–15 The Discussion Bible

There’s a time to get moving and a time to sit still,
A time to say yes and the best time to say, “I will.”
There’s time to arrive and a time we should prepare.
People treat time differently, which doesn’t seem fair.

Some folks are up so early that many wonder why.
They rise up even before the birds fly in the sky.
They sit and they wait calmly, reading a book,
While others grab coffee with a panicked look.

Some folks are late, having to do just one more thing,
As if they’re racing a clock that has a busted-up spring.
They rush and they hustle, they scramble and scoot—
But their peace takes a tumble, with more stress to boot.

Some cut it so close that they run out the door,
Coat half on their shoulders and keys on the floor.
They make it just barely, with sweat on their brow—
But they did make the day. They made it somehow.
