Straight Honest Talk

Quit saying, “The Lord told me,” to add impact to your message. Let your words be yours. Don’t corrupt the words of the living God by assigning your thoughts to our God, the Lord Almighty. — Jeremiah 23:36 The Discussion Bible

Some folks like to speak with a heavenly tone,
As if every idea they have is God’s very own.
But wisdom is humble, and truth must be clear.
Saying, “God told me,” seldom suits the ear.

The truth of God’s word will stand without boasts.
We don’t need “God said to me” included in our posts.
When we stamp his name on what we want to say,
We twist what is sacred—a game we shouldn’t play.

If God truly speaks, his voice will be known.
It rings in people’s hearts—a clear, steady tone.
No bragging is required, no pressure, no flair,
Just peace in the Spirit that whispers, “I’m there.”

So speak from your heart and speak what is true.
Say, “This is my thought. Now what about you?”
And if God has spoken, then time surely will reveal
That wisdom in your words has God’s approving seal.

Let your words be honest, not dressed up for show,
And the Lord’s voice will shine with its unique glow.
His Word will stand forever. It needs no disguise.
The humble will hear, and the faithful will grow wise.
