The path up ahead is daunting, looking rocky and steep,
While the shortcut seems smooth with a promise to keep.
But the easy way whispers, “Come rest for a while,”
Then traps you in comfort and steals your next mile.
The flesh says, “Relax. You’ve been working too long.”
But the spirit says, “Stand up. Be faithful and strong.”
For growth doesn’t blossom on soil that’s too soft.
It comes through the struggle, the stretching, the cost.
We may want the mountaintop without the long climb,
To enjoy the harvest without sacrificing effort or time.
But God shapes our hearts through the labor and pain.
There are no shortcuts to glory, no crown without strain.
Jesus prayed earnestly when his hour came due.
No “easy way out” could have carried him through.
Three times he surrendered his will to the cross.
Through obedience, he endured the pain and loss.
When “hard work” makes you weary, tempting you to quit,
Just remember: your faith is being strengthened by it.
The muscles of spirit are forged in every test.
The easy way is tempting, but God’s way is best.
We look for quick answers, a push-button plan,
But Heaven still works through the patience of man.
The race isn’t won by those who start with a shout,
But by those who keep going when passion burns out.
So when the road bends and your courage feels thin,
And quitting seems simpler than trying again—
Just turn your eyes upward and remember what’s true:
The harder the climb to the top, the better the view.
The Lord gives us power when we choose to obey,
Not before we begin, but in accepting the hard way.
For strength isn’t found in escape or in doubt.
No, it’s found in refusing the easy way out.
