Breakthroughs

“Look,” the Lord says, “I’m doing something new. It’s about to happen. Can’t you see it coming? I’m about to cut pathways through your jungles and cause rivers to flow through your deserts. — Isaiah 43:19 The Discussion Bible

I once had a rut that I drove every day,
The same old routine in the same tired way.
I kept plodding forward, but my feet didn’t know
How to break through with nowhere else to go.

I asked for God’s help, but he seemed to suggest:
“Just keep on believing. Don’t quit. Do your best.
Do what you can, and I’ll handle the result.
Faith and obedience will cause life to catapult.”

So I looked at my habits, my duties, my time,
And saw new heights I might want to climb.
I listed my labors—some heavy, some light—
And noticed a few that just didn’t feel right.

I asked, “Which of these things matter most to me?
Which ones will be important to God in eternity?”
I chose what was worthy and dropped what was not,
And began to find priorities that really hit the spot.

You see, breakthroughs aren’t thunder or flashes of flame.
They’re whispers from Heaven that call you by name.
They’re steps in the dark when you trust where you tread.
They’re faith in the future when you are Spirit-led.

Joy doesn’t come from the dreams that you chase,
But from walking with God in his marvelous grace.
Work where he’s planted and bloom where you stand,
And know he will guide you with his helping hand.

So if your life feels stuck and you don’t have a clue,
Don’t moan and don’t quit. Just ask, “What can I do?”
God will make a way when security seems to disappear.
Breakthroughs will come as you pray through your fear.
