Pressure and Peace

When deadlines, doubts, or distractions swirl like a storm, trust God to rule every thought, opportunity, and outcome. Let his peace guide your words. — Psalm 46:10 Scripture for Writers

Some writers need pressure to push through the gate,
They wait for the deadline, then fear they’ll be late.
They scramble and stress as their frustrations increase,
Somehow forgetting that the best work needs peace.

Pressure can hurry the mind to its frantic end,
Leaving empty messages with not much to send.
When thoughts are tumbling and worries get worse,
It’s time to step back and chart a new course.

Some pressures are healthy, like hunger to grow,
To write what God whispers, to share what we know.
But striving for praise or a name on the wall,
Will drain out the joy and make writing feel small.

The urgent will holler, “You must do it now.”
The important says softly, “Be still, take a bow.”
For peace isn’t laziness. It listens, and it waits,
It opens the heart while the pressure deflates.

When storms are raging, our thoughts in a spin,
We should call out to Jesus and let calm begin.
He quiets the waters so our words begin to flow.
The pressure abates, and peace starts to grow.

For godliness joined with contentment is gain,
A balance of sunshine and sweet gentle rain.
So trust in God’s timing. His pace is just right,
And write what he gives you with joy and delight.
