Brightly Shining

You once lived in darkness, but now you have the light of the Lord, so walk as God’s children in the light. — Ephesians 5:8 The Discussion Bible

Don’t hide your bright light in a box or a sack,
For once it is covered, it might never come back.
A candle needs air. It was made to shine bright,
So open your window and pour out the light.

The smile that you share is a spark in the night,
It warms the heart and makes darkness light.
But faking light with a grin is just hypocrisy.
True joy comes only from the Lord, you see.

A lamp with no oil will flicker and die,
Like clouds blocking the sun in the sky.
But plugged in to Jesus, the Source ever true,
Your light will keep shining in all that you do.

You choose if your candle will shine or stay dim.
You choose if your life will point others to him.
For the light isn’t ours. No, it’s God’s gift to give,
And shining his glory is the bestest way to live.
