About God’s Business

Writers would like to chart their entire journey to success, but God wants them to take the next right step. — Proverbs 16:9 Scripture for Writers

At one time, I wondered and whispered with a sigh,
“Oh, why can’t things change? Oh, why, why, why?”
I longed to bring difference, to leave my own mark,
To shine in the daylight and glow in the dark.

When my unanswered questions started to fade,
My focus shifted, and new habits were made.
No longer were results the prize I pursued.
I asked what God wanted, and there I renewed.

For thirty long years, he has brightened my way,
As I seek only his will in the work of each day.
The fruit of my labor is entirely his to command.
The harvest is his, gathered by his mighty hand.

So now when I’m writing, or just walking along,
I don’t chase the outcome. I don’t sing that song.
I simply keep doing what God says is right,
And trust him to make my work shine in his light.
