One choice at a time. That is how we must go—
A step on the mountain, both steady and slow.
For God gives strength when we say, “Yes, please.”
He opens the pathway through forests and trees.
It isn’t one moment, one switch that we flip.
It’s climbing a trail on a long upward trip.
Each choice is a stepping stone on the way to the peak,
Every “yes” to the Lord will make his power unique.
Our self wants to fight and to run its own show,
But God whispers softly the way we should go.
With trembling and trust, we keep moving ahead,
Alive to his life, because our old ways are dead.
With one step, then two, and then three … and more,
Each choice is a key to unlock Heaven’s door.
The summit draws closer. The view comes in sight,
Each day or right choices bring great joy and delight.
