People say they’re saved with a nod and a cheer,
But words are just words if no change appears.
The proof of our faith is the life that we live,
Not just what we say but the love that we give.
Some think salvation is easy, a ticket, a ride,
A splash in the water, a prayer said with pride.
But Jesus said plainly, “Take up your own cross—
Follow me, for the gain justifies your great loss.”
One man turned away, for he clung to his gold.
He missed the greatest treasure that’s never sold.
He walked away saddened, his heart split in two,
Because he couldn’t follow wealth and Jesus too.
Salvation isn’t cheap, as some might think.
It’s not a magic potion we can easily drink.
Our difficult journey is both narrow and long,
But those who endure will be saved and made strong.
So give him your heart and surrender your ways.
Walk with him daily through all of your days.
The prize is eternal, and the crown is for you—
If Jesus is Lord over all you say and do.
