You can’t break the bond. Don’t even try.
Nowhere on Earth or among stars in the sky,
No power, no person, no peril, no pest
Can pull us away from God’s love and his rest.
No threat of a sword, no promise of gold,
No whisper of fear from the brave or the bold,
Not angels with trumpets or kings with a crown,
Can turn God’s great love for us upside down.
Not rulers or riots or things yet to be,
Not thunder or lightning or depths of the sea—
Not even the grave with its shadowy call
Can cancel God’s love. No, not one thing at all.
Through Jesus our Lord, we are wrapped up so tight,
Held firm in his mercy, his joy, and his light.
So dance through your troubles, and sing when you fall—
For God’s love is still with you always through it all.
