No Worries

Since you know how much God cares, you can surrender all your worries to him. — 1 Peter 5:7 The Discussion Bible

Oh worry, oh worry, oh worry of mind,
You swirl and you twirl and you’re never kind.
You sneak into my thoughts with sly little grin.
But I’ve got a secret, for God says he wants in.

He’s watching. He’s caring—as close as a prayer.
He knows every burden, each deep-down despair.
So why should I worry, and why should I stress?
The King of kings is saying, “Give Me your mess.”

I carried my troubles in a very big bag,
My steps made so heavy, my shoulders would sag.
But God said, “Dear child, that’s not meant for you.
Just cast them on me. I know what to do.”

So I tossed them like rocks—every worry and fear.
I threw them with tears and a trembling cheer.
And wouldn’t you know it? My heart felt so light.
Like dawn breaking through in the middle of night.

He cares when I’m lonely. He cares when I cry.
He cares when I question or scream at the sky.
He cares when I whisper and cares when I shout.
There isn’t one thing he doesn’t care about.

Here’s what I’ve learned from my knees and my fall:
God’s shoulders are strong, and he welcomes it all.
Don’t carry your burdens and try to be tough.
Just hand them to him … for that’s more than enough.
