Don’t wait till you’re sorry to say, “I’ll be good.”
Do right from the start—just like you should.
God’s not amused when you knew what to do,
But chose the wrong path and said, “That’ll do.”
You can bring all the gifts, stack them high in the air,
But he’s watching your heart. Is it honest and fair?
He’d rather you walk in the truth day by day,
Than trip, then repent, then keep slipping away.
So be kind. Be just. Be joyful and true.
Do what is right in the small things you do.
God’s pleased with a life that is honest and bright—
Not just with “I’m sorry,” but choosing what’s right.
