Nudge from Above

My child, don’t despise the Lord’s discipline or get angry when he corrects you. God is like a loving father, correcting his children and allowing them to endure hard times, because he wants the best for them. — Proverbs 3:11–12 The Discussion Bible

My child, don’t grumble when God says no.
Don’t pout when he tells you where not to go.
Don’t ever get huffy. Don’t shout or despair.
His love is the reason he’s even aware.

He teaches and trains with a gentle delight,
Not with fury or fire but by guiding you right.
He’s a father who knows what will help you the most.
He steers you away from what’s foolish to boast.

When life gets all bumpy and storms start to blow,
He’s teaching you lessons you sure need to know.
He lets you endure—not to see you in pain,
But to strengthen your soul like the sun after rain.

So listen and trust when he gives you a shove.
It’s not out of harshness. It’s fatherly love.
He sees who you’re to be, shining and bright,
So he only leads toward what’s good and right.
