Comfort to Spare

Praise be to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, merciful and comforting. He comforts us during hard times so we may comfort others in similar situations, sharing the hope we had in Christ that brought us through. — 2 Corinthians 1:3–4 The Discussion Bible

Oh, praise to our God, the great Father above.
He’s brimming with mercy. He’s bursting with love.
When troubles come knocking, when life brings a fight,
He wraps us in comfort, helping us to see his light.

When tears are falling and hearts start to break,
He’s there with his comfort to soothe every ache.
But wait! There is more. There’s a wonderful plan:
We don’t keep this comfort just locked in a can.

It’s not just for me and it’s not just for you.
It’s a gift to be shared when hard times come through.
When someone feels lost, and they’re hurting like you,
Then you can say, “I’ve suffered and felt pain too.”

“You’ll make it,” you might say. “I’ve seen that door.
I’ll walk here beside you till you’re strong once more.”
The hope that God gave when he brought you through
Is the very same hope you can pass to others too.

So praise to our God. Oh, lift up your song.
His comfort is real, and his arms are so strong.
When he brings you through storms, you’ll be able to care
And carry his comfort wherever you dare.
